I am delighted to welcome you and your child to Room 18. It is a privilege to have your child in my classroom.
I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BS and Fifth year in Elementary Education, I have been an educator of students from Preschool through Grade Five. After receiving my degree, I was a fourth grade teacher in a private school in New Haven for five years. During the years of raising my own children, I was a director/teacher of Meriden's first Two Year Old Nursery School. Directly after this experience, I was hired by the City of Meriden as a Grade Two teacher. I spent 18 years teaching Grade Two at Roger Sherman School. During 2002- 2005, I taught MLT at John Barry. I missed having my own classroom. I have been teaching Grade Two at Thomas Hooker since 2005.
My peers, school families and Roger Sherman School honored me as Probus Educator of the Year in 2000. In 2007, the Thomas Hooker and the City of Meriden honored me as Meriden's Teacher of Year.
My husband, Thom and I have two sons that were educated at Thomas Hooker. I served as Co-president of PTG during that time. Both sons are graduates of UCONN. My eldest son is Matthew and he is employed at ESPN. Matthew and his wife, Kristin, have blessed me with two grandchildren. My youngest son served in Iraq for a year as a US Marine, Charlie Company. Michael and his wife, Bethany live in New Haven. Michael is a Registered Nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital and the St. Raphael's Campus.. Bethany is an event planner for ESPN.
The education of every child is extremely important to me. I will work arduously to give your child my very best. I look forward to a wonderful school year.
